The EMGO 12" Shorties (not the EMGO Slashcuts or Turnouts) have 2 different diameter ends, so just use the end that fits on the stock header pipe after you cut it. I cut the mufflers off RIGHT at the weld for the header pipe/muffler.

www.jcwhitney.com also sells adapter sleeves, 3 different sizes per package, you'll need 2 packages to get the 2 adapters that you'll need. After cutting off the mufflers, insert an adapter into the end of the EMGO & install it on the cut header pipe end. I used O-ring type pipe clamps to cover the adapter/insert as well as strengthen that joint there.

The EMGO's come with 2 flat plates for installing on the frame. I used the now unused hole that originally held the mufflers in place, cut the flat plates to the right length & simply bolted 'em to the frame (it's actually the stock passenger peg/muffler mount plate on the Reb)

It's a pretty straightforward job, but you'll have to remove the pipes in order to cut them cleanly. When re-installing the headers, PLEASE be very careful not to over-tighten the exhaust flange stud nuts, but tighten them up "snug" (not TOO tight), then check them cold before the next ride to insure that they're "snug" again & eventually, they'll settle in.

Also, when cutting the flat plates for holding the EMGO's onto the frame, please make sure that the flat plates are the proper length to allow the EMGO's to sit "level" & follow the same line as the stock header pipes so's you'll have a clean visual.

Sorry, I'm not good at computer-related items & wouldn't even know where to begin as far as sound files

Many know that I'm notoriously lax in getting to photos as well, but I'll try to get the OL to take photos with the digicam in the near future.

Soundwise.......I'm very content with 'em. They don't sound like a "Harley" or even like a Triumph with straight pipes, but they definitely have a "chopper" sound, not chintzey. One guy sharing a lane described 'em as sounding like a Cesna.

They're definitely louder than stock, but not what many would consider obnoxious (speaking only for myself, pipes can't be too loud for my taste. )

Edit: HotShott & All, You're entitled to an explaination as I've encountered requests for photos many times in the past. Just want to attempt to offer an overview in regards to this. A lot of folks are into computers & know how to utilize the various tools, which is great, but technology has far surpassed my basic understanding. When my profile says "Full-time Scooter Tramp", that's exactly what I am. Had done quite a few mods on the 250 Rebel & literally didn't get even ONE photo of that bike before I sold it (still kickin' myself for that one) Can use the boards, can do E-mail, can sometimes even post links, LOL!, but beyond that, I'm at a clear disadvantage.

I don't own a cell phone, don't know how to use a cell phone, don't know how to use a digicam, don't know anything about iPods other than that they store a lot of music.

When I'm in the shop, my focus is on wrenchin' & computers aren't even on my mind at that point in time. This means that I have to rely on the OL to take pics & then it's a matter of it fitting into her schedule.

Have done a few mods on this 450 & I WILL get the OL to take some pics of all of them. But I'll have to coordinate that with her & get 'em all done at once & THEN, have to have her get them on the computer so's they can be posted. Patience is much appreciated in this case
