Yeah, that logic thing can really get in the way some times!

I can't imagine turning away business.
The local "hardcore" Harley Only custom shop in my area was cordial to me when I stopped in on my Rebel (on an unrelated matter). The owner thought the Rebel looked good, even if it wasn't H-D. They even was so far as to offer to get custom parts for my "Metric Cruiser" He say that he didn't stock metric stuff but would be happy to order anything. He also said that while they don't work on metrics, they would be happy to sell me a tire and mount it on my wheel as long as I took the wheel off the bike myself.
All in all, I didn't think that was unreasonable.

twitch........Wanted to offer my condolences as well and hope that you & your Family are doing better. The healing process is an individual thing and I always respect that each person will heal up in their own time.

As far as the other item, please take that kinda stuff with a grain of salt. People are people, regardless of the brand they ride and I especially like the way "flitecontrol" worded it.

I started out on Triumph then went to Harley (1970's), went back to Triumph, then added Honda and added Harley again, so currently riding 3 different brands. I agree that it's gotten better in recent years for the most part, but I clearly remember the attitudes of the '70's and there was very little give.

Had this fortunate experience that I'm grateful for to this very day.......It was the early Triumph years, I'd thrown a chain and had just pushed the bike off the road into a parking lot. A guy riding a Honda and wearing a helmet stopped and helped me get the chain back on and he insisted on riding 30 miles out of his way to make sure I made it back O.K. Got to my place and I offered him a beer (not uncommon then), he politely refused and I offered him some $$$ for his troubles. Again, he politely refused and headed out on his way. Never forgot that. Never..........Even after I got into the Harley scene and the name calling against other brands was pretty bad, I flat out refused to participate in it. As far as I'm concerned, it's 2 wheels and a motor......that's all that matters.

Enjoy your ride and Ride Safe........

Snobs are snobs. You find them everywhere. As far as Harleys go, I have found their dealers are a lot more likely to be snobs than their riders, even in todays economy, when a lot of them are just one step away from bankruptcy. Jerry.

I haven't gotten any grief for my bike yet. Usually when I see Harleys, or any bike for that matter, going by the other way I wave, and they either wave back or they ride by with their heads turned like confused dogs trying to figure out what my bike is. In fact I've gotten a lot of nice comments from other riders and random people. I pretty much wave at everyone on two wheels, except those damn bicycle riders! Haha J/K. Seriously though, from Harleys to mopeds I'll wave and I usually get a wave, or head nod, back. I still want to get a Harley, but I'm with Jerry, even if I could afford a new one I'd still opt for a post AMF EVO Harley, or an old Nuckle-Head because I love how those engines look. Panheads are pretty sick too. I've been doing a lot of thinking about my next project and I'm trying to decide between these: Yamaha xs650, Honda CB750, Honda VT600 Shadow, Harley Sportster, Triumph Bonneville (if I can find one), oh... or a brand new space age BMW! haha. That's if I do another Bobber. They all have their pros and cons, but for my next bike I'd love to have more power and speed, a springer front end, a kick start, a rigid frame (or at least the look which I like about the VT600, although I don't like that most are drive shaft and only 4 speed), and made for two riders (my girlfriend wants a seat too). I'd be nice if I could get the bike for under $3000 as well. Don't get me wrong, I love my Rebel and can't see myself ever parting with it, but I can see that I'm almost completely done with that project and I gotta start planning for the next one.

I can't knock harley to much, half my bike is HD parts. LOL... next bike is going to be a steampunk project. Threw the idea at my wife who thinks it would be cool... More like an art project that I could ride.

You should try to actually power it with steam like the old Roper. Hmmm... I wonder how you could go about building a steam powered motorcycle (not bicycle).

I'm still trying to decide between: Cafe-Racer, Rat-Rod, Survival, Street-Fighter, or another Bobber.

i work at a harley shop here in MO. we always will do tires that are off the bike no matter what brand, now if its on the bike we cant, or guys dont work on other brands therefor dont have the know how to do the job right for the custmer. but we do MO. inspections and do tires off the bike all the time. and your 100% right on geting the other brand rider in the shop, so we invite them all the time to the store to get them in so we can show them what we do and can offer them...
