Whats for Dinner? Think I'll just cook a rebel!

Well Hi all.Thank you all for the input on my Tire thread was very helpful. So I say I'm not going to buy another bike till Little baby (85 250) is up and running. Am not,Will not,Won't happen. So I find this add on Tucson craigslist. Here's how it was listed."honda rebel 250 - $800. honda rebel motorcycle for sale, no key. needs ignition work. I know it runs good, I just suck at wiring. Includes a battery tender, which is hard wired to the battery. give me a call. price negotiable. My name is Adam xxx-xxxx. I want it gone today if all possible. I'm broke." So I call him and said like to look at the bike, drive over ,looks ok,not bad, said I'll think about it.I go home and call him and say I will give you $400.00. Call me if you get no offers! Then about 2 hours I call him and said I will go up one hundred if you come down one hundred.Thinking I'm not going to by bike 2 untill bike 1 is up and running,That went out the window. So as I am pushing it home over a mile at 8pm thinking I am sick and need help. Then I think no you work hard.Thats all you do work and sleep so its ok.I keep telling my self that...Anyway here comes the Dinner part. He tryed to hot wire it after rippppppping out the ignition! because of a lost key and broke off the fork lock. This guy is in the Airforce,I love all the men and woman in all our services, just hope he keeps away from our f-15s,16s and so on. A-10s out here. So What do you all think he cooked???Have ordered a new fork lock, gas cap and switch...Not going to buy another bike!!!Can't buy a runnnnnnning bike? I am the sign of the scale... Take care All,See pics Its a 87, 250 with 27'000 miles. New 09 here I come...

It has second gen sidecovers on it. Looks like a second gen tank too, but that could just be a repaint.

No telling what wiring got cooked, baked, torn or ripped until you get in there.
Signals are missing so there might be some wiring issues there too.

Still in all, not a bad bike for the price. I wouldn't mind running across a deal like that.
With your keyed set, don't forget the helmet lock. Ignition, gas cap, fork lock and helmet lock are all one key.

Maybe it's a 97 rather than an 87? Check the VIN plate.
