i have been letting my rebel run rich untill i am able to rejet it and i pulled my plugs to check them and of course they are black but the one from the left cylender was wet and smelled like gas is this normal it runs fine.

It can be normal for as long as you know you're running rich........it's not uncommon for both plugs to read "slightly" different even when in good tune......In your case, just a slight lack of full combustion on the left side can leave a wet residue since while running rich you've got more fuel in the air/fuel ratio...........wouldn't necessarily worry about it too much for now since the bike is running good, but another thing to keep in mind is that you probably want to do the re-jet as soon as time and funds allow.......Running overly rich for an extended period of time can cause unwanted carbon build-up inside the combustion chamber, valve faces, valve stems, valve guides, etc......
