Side covers/Battery box
Hi all.Picked up a 87 250 started work on it.I think 97 side covers and were monkey rigged. they had to go! Pic 1 when I picked it up 5 bills.Pic 2 and 3 new side covers.Pic 4 battery box how it looked.Pic 5 cleaned,wire brushed,painted and new padding.Little at a time.Got to love it....Me

Looks nice! I agree the original side cover look so much better.
What did you use as cushion for the battery box. To me it looks like velcro. If it is, ust be aware that it will crush down to near nothing. You can pick up acid resistant rubber mde for battery boxes from just about any auto parts store or bike shop. Using that will reduce the shock on the wet battery. JMTCW.

Thank you all.Yes did use velcro! Still in that early stage of learning.I have a top of line Harley repair guy comming in a few hours,said he can get it running.3:55am az time.If haf the bike is fried will take any and all parts off bike 1 little baby to get no name running then make a parts list to replace the 800 items I took off.Ha wish me luck...Me

If you get a MF, AGM battery, it won't leak like the wet cell that caused those problems. No damage to box, frame, or the electronics attached to the box. Plus more CCAs.
