Rules for Bike of the Month - Read First

We are starting a Bike of the Month contest. In order to eligible for Bike of the Month you must have a photo of you bike hosted in the vb image host application on this site http://www.hondarebelforum.com/vbimghost.php?do=upload

There will be 5 randomly selected members bikes picked each month to be in the running for bike of the month. then its up to you the members to vote on which of the 5 should be selected for bike of the month.

A thread will be setup with a poll for each months contest. Each member can vote in the poll and the bike with most votes at the end of the month will win the Bike of the Month.

Winning bikes owner will recieve a gift card in an amount to be specified from one of a couple of retailers to be announced over the next couple of days as I get the details worked out.

In the event the winner does not claim their prize within 30 days, it will be forfeited.

Yep, anyone is eligible..... I should note that a random number generator will be doing picking the members each month. When you sign up to be a member you are assigned a member number. right now there are numbers 1 through 1360+

I set the parameter of the generator to select a number between 1 and 1360 and it will spit out a number, I then go to which ever member that number is and if they have pics of their bike uploaded, they will be one of the 5 in the running. However.... no uploaded pics will just skip and draw another number.

As I go along the process may be streamlined some.

Are you writing a query against the database? If so, you could just have it pick top 5 random numbers based on the record count from the query rather than having to hard code the number each time. Do a Where is imagefield != null. That will make it look at those records that have at least one image in them.

That would work, but I have a number gen. script that will pick a series of numbers in this case 5 between a specific string of numbers being the total number of members. It works pretty well.
