Well here's a little update. I put in the #40/#138 combo and it's running great but still lean. I went down to Mountain Motorsports by my house and told them about the Keihin and Mikuni differences and they were happy to refund me for the jets I purchased and give me a discount on the new jets I ordered. I will continue my quest to find the perfect jets next weekend when I get the ones I ordered: (#42, #45 slow, & #140, #142, & #145 main). I will swap out the #40/#138 combo for a #40/#140 and if that doesn't get it I'll keep going one jet at a time.

Very cool of Mountain Motorsports to do right by ya, J-Adix....It's interesting that you're having to jet up more, but as mentioned earlier, all bikes are different and you definitely know what you're doing........Good on ya for keeping after it and please keep us posted.......

Changing jets is not hard. You don't have to change air filters when you change exhaust unless you want to.

Plus if you keep the airfilter stock you won't have to rejet when you add the shorties.

Hey shogun25, As stated above rejetting is pretty easy, finding the right combination of jets is the harder part, due to the fact that it's a process of trial and error. This forum has an excellent thread with pictures on how to rejet the carb. The shortys look nice and sound great on it. You don't need to remove the air box, but if you choose to do so, you will have to rejet.

I've been out of town for this last week. I went up to Mammoth Lakes up in the Sierras for a huge Blues and Micro-Brew festival, which was awesome by the way. Here's an update though. I now have a #45 slow and #148 main and it's definitely close. The color is beginning to turn a light tannish color although it's still a little lean in my opinion. I will contiune to up-jet til I get it a darker tan.
