Paint question?

I found a fairing/windshield that has a 5.75 headlight cutout and was thinking of buying it. It is black and my rebel is the metallic 09 blue...should I even attempt to paint it myself (I have a little experience with spraying) or Just bring it somewhere since it's a 4 stage paint? If I go somewhere what should I expect to pay for such a paint job?

For seomthing tht is going to take a lot of abuse (frontal assault by rocks, etc,) I personally would go with a hardened paint (not necessarily 4 stage). Would probably wear longer and be a good color match.

But on the other hand, if you have a spray can color that is close to matching the stock color then you could paint it and just touch it up as need for a fraction of the cost.

If you can lay an even coat then go for it. If your over lap is not consistant then let someone else do it.
The neat thing with paint is that it "Is just Paint" and can be redone at anytime.

I wouldn't spend the cash to use OE paint on the faring. Find a spraycan that matches and go with it. The amount of abuse it takes would make you mad with the first rockchip.
Who told you the 09' blue is a 4 stage paint? Tops it may be 3 but if you really wanted to paint it with base coat clearcoat I'd just have some 2 stage mixed to match.
