May or may not be a long shot, but have you checked the seals for where the exhausts attach to the motor ? If the seals were good, but the rings were bad, the smoke "might" only come out of the end of the exhaust......If it's not "billowing" smoke, it might only be bad exhaust to head seals.......or loose exhaust clamps, which one does NOT want to over tighten, just hand-snug, as those 250 exhaust clamp studs are 6mm and ridiculously weak.

Oh, man, I'm sorry to hear this"igjosh"......Please don't start it again and try to minimize anymore possible damage. I hate to say this, but please be prepared that this could be an expensive fix.......IF a ring or rings broke and IF any bits fell into the crankcase, it could be bad. Again, I hope that it's just rings and not a scored cylinder bore and/or bits of metal in the crankcase.........Hoping for the best for ya!

Understood on the black spark plug on the right cylinder. Have you checked the spark plug on the left cylinder ? Reason I ask is that IF the spark plug on the left cylinder is WHITE, then there's a possibility that the bike was running lean and it may have holed a piston on the right side...........It's hard to figure this stuff out with not being there, but just trying to help gauge the situation.

Yes, it could be only bad rings that turned the right side spark plug black, but a holed piston would do the same thing.........Again, am hoping that this is an easier fix than other possibles...
