My 500 doller baby!

Well Its getting bad! Picked up a nice licence holder from
Click here: Jack's Rebel Warehouse - Rebel Catalog, Honda Rebel parts and accessories He is very nice,Great service,Fast shipping,Good prices! So I think I will change it out because the one on the 85 250 was broken. Easy job! Wrong. When I got under there some one had cut, spliced, rewired and done just about every thing you can think of to mess it up! See Pic 1 I though the wires in front of the licence were just holding other wires from dropping down on the wheel because the cover was missing. They were the turn sig wires! One of 5 covers missing.I now have them all. So one of my buddys comes over and its so bad we are going to remove the back tire and rewire the hole back end of my little mess. I look at him and said where are the meat balls? He said what are you talking about? I said well look at all the SPAGHETTI ! Well at this point I am now going to buy 2 more bikes an 86 or 87 and a new 09. That way I can start to ride and go slow on,new name (little baby) Its sad to see how some just don't know or care for such a fine bike..Take care all! If I am posting to much please you all let me know and I will back off...Me

That little wirie box is a rat's nest from the factory, so don't feel too bad. The cover should be on there but it sound like you have the project well in hand. Jack is the best guy to talk to about parts and it looks like he hooked you up with a nice plate bracket and light.

As for posting too much, I don't think that is possible. I love talking Rebel. I love talking about bikes. The free exchange of ideas between cyclists is a good thing.
Sharing ideas and perspective while respecting each individual's tastes and style, it just doesn't get any better than that.

You could always just pick up new signals with complete wires and an un cut fender wire harness and start from scratch with zero cut/taped/spliced wires.

Hi all thanks for the replys..I was depressed when I posted last.If I am going to buy 2 more bikes I can not hire the work done everytime I can't do something. So got up at 6am thinking Little baby is not going to get the best of me! worked over 8 hours, reading, unsplicing, testing.I though go back to basic, wire it just like Honda had it. When I was done had power to all lights but no blinker. I'm thinking bad turn sig switch on bars. More money. So here I go took the switch apart lots of parts, took pics to help me put it back together. There was so much dirt in there you could build a mud house, not been apart in 25 years.cleaned each little part. put it all back and turned the key on and get everything back..all turn sigs. Cleaned switch by hand brake got it working, rear brake light and license plate light.Next week I will go just in front of the seat and put in all new wires..Learn as I go...Tryed to add a pic here ? Take care all...Me

You can put those pictures in an album (under your profile or go to 'community' and 'pictures & albums' and add them that way).

Again, congrats!

The fruits of not giving up Az! wrenching is like riding you accumulate experience practicing. No one was born with all the knowledge or experience, you have to acquire it. Congrats on having the patience to clean the contact surfaces on a 1/4 of a century old switch. It feels good when you actually tackle a project. When you feel like you can't do something, take a brake, then try again; if that doesn't help, do a search on this forum, there is ton of knowledge here, if that doesn't work, post questions. Folks around this forum are supercool and actually enjoy shating their knowledge.
