Moving foot controls

I want to move my foot controls forward instead of highway pegs. on the 450, same threaded rod for the shifter. But the brake is a whole different story, solid rod with pins both ends. I know Jerry says the 450 is a lot roomier than the 250 but still want to make the move, anyone done that? Tony

There was another member from the early years here whose handle was "Snorebaby" (good people).....he fabbed some forwards for his 450 and posted pics at that time.

If you have time to search around, you might be able to see how he did his........not sure how the search option works here as I don't use it, but maybe if you can find his name in either the membership list or thru the search engine, I'd think his posts should still be on site here........

Now continuing, if my computer let's me. ,rather than lengthening the brake arm. Jerry(or anybody else) does 4 inches on the peg mounts mean 4 inches on the control rods? Remember, I'm a machinist, so rather anal about exact measurements.(MACHINISTS DO IT WITH PRECISION). Thanks, Tony

Yes, at least that's how I'd do it. I saw one member here just added more brake arm. If you add more arm, that means you'll have to depress the brake even farther to get the same effect. In my opinion it's better to just extend the rods.

moutainclimber, to extend the brake arm for the 450 you could mke it exact, but it would be easier to make an adjustable linkage so you have some wiggle room. One end could be threaded with a lock nut on it to adjust a couple of inches either way. Same with the shifter linkage. At least that's how I would attack it.

Guba, adding brake arm is for the 250. And yes, you increase travel exponentially. That's why I made a linkage system for mine to avoid that problem.
