Has anyone added a big bore kit to there bike if so what size is it now? Does it vibrate more, better or worse mileage and how much more power? What did it cost?

It's easier to buy a bigger bike than it is to try and make the Rebel what it isn't, and never can be.

I have 9 bikes all but 3 are bigger than a rebel. I was wondering if anyone makes a kit or if the chinese copy thats 305cc will fit this bike. Even 50cc will make a noticble difference and it would be a fun project.

Send 'em your engine and they can whip up a stroker kit for it.

Thats a bit to much for me boring the cylinders and changing pistons is the better way to go, easy and alot less money. Some one on here has had to do this at some point, we Americans can never leave things alone mods are part of life here and its built into our DNA...

well with enough time and money any thing is do able but im not sure how much you would want to bore it over i mean being air cooled thinner walls might not be the best idea and if you go far enough to make a difference i might now handle heat that great

i have been toying with the thought of getting a second head to get ported out and seeing if it could do but i know it probably wouldnt be worth the money because at that point i would need to try and find some one to make a cam up which wouldnt be cheap and i would still have the limited factor of the small cylinder and i would want to go to dual carbs which would be some messing around and i dont have the money to get that involved right now

Well, you did ask about kits...

As for a 305cc China-clone mill, well --- I'd rather take my chances (and wallet) with the kit.

The big thing to remember here is what you're starting with. A 25% gain to a 16HP motor yields a 20HP motor. You might not even notice that with a butt-dyno.

I'm inclined to think that boring it out would shorten the life of the engine. These things are already engineered to do as much as they can with as little as possible. Boring it out would lessen it's heat sink mass, and put greater stress on the rods and crankshaft. It's something I would do if I had an old engine I didn't mind trashing, but I wouldn't do it to a good one.

the real question is how thick are the sleeves and how far could you go and still have it handle the heat and would that slight increase be beneficial
