I just turned 2...1. Late October. Looks like I have new mentors to look up to.

:P Go Irvlair! Man, I wonder what the world of biking will be like 61 years into the future (I definitely hope to be as cool as you)!!!

hydrogen fuel electric hover bikes with built in force field bubble to keep the rider (and pedestrians) safe. Will probably have built in 'big brother' tracking and won't start unless it recognizes your chip implant...

That would eliminate the whole reason for owning and riding motorcycles. It's the primitive aspect of motorcycles that attracts me to them. As for the big brother thing, that already reality with newer cars. They can be tracked by satellite everywhere they go. And just like airplanes, they have a black box that records everything the car is doing for 30 seconds before a major crash. If you say you weren't speeding, the car will snitch on you. I'll keep my '60s cars, thanks. I don't even like carrying a cell phone around. They too can be tracked by satellite. Jerry.

There are hacks you can find on the internet to turn that stuff off. I read its already been to court and there is no law saying it has to be on.

Lol... force field!

I already have the tracking device in my phone (JD's right). I use it for kicks... played Marco Polo w/ the GPS system one time. Ended up leading to a Chinese food restaurant & ate lunch

true. also for me, the 'rebelious' aspect.

I suspect there will be a small number of the population in 60 years that will have found a way to produce whatever fuel it will take to run the remaining antiques that haven't completely fallen apart or are in museums. It wil be hard to keep out of sight though, as it will probably be a crime to operate an internal combustian engine without special permits. Remember Judge Dredd, "Democracy is not for the people"...

What an inspiration!

What an interesting thread this has been! My hat is definitely off to Irvlair for his longevity and to Junkyard Dog for his remarkable miles in the saddle and for both of your admirable safety records. Wow!

And then there's Gil:

What an inspiration to me. I turned 67 in October and rode for the first time at an MSF Rider's class the 1st weekend in November, 2009. Since that time, I've put over 700 miles on my 2004 Rebel and enjoyed every minute. Most of my peers think I'm nuts and the rest, I think, are silently expecting any day, for me to hurt myself in an accident. So it does me good to see others older than I am, enjoying the ride, and so many others near my age who are veterans of the road and still actively pursuing their love of riding. And what an honor to be able to tap into the riding and mechanical experience of you all.
God bless one and all.
Gary

If there was a law saying that I had to allow my whereabouts in my own vehicle to be recorded and tracked, Id make a point of defeating it, and make sure the cameras were rolling when I had my day in court. Not that I'm stubborn or anything, but there are certain aspects of personal privacy that are worth fighting for. I drive a work vehicle that belongs to my employer, and carry their cell phone as well. If they choose to track their property, that is their prerogative. Most cars sold in the USA since the advent of computer modules for engine function, etc. have this feature. My cage being a '92 would probably a have a record of my speed that could be used against me if I were to be involved in a fatal crash or the like, but I haven't gone to the trouble of defeating it. Probably never will. I agree with Jerry about half the time on non-mechanical things . But I'm with you 100% on this one.
