I third that. avoid it or Pass through it on 270 and never look back.
270 is the best route because you do get a good view of the water and some architecture, just make sure you don't have a bathroom break along the way because apparently none of the gas stations in the city have bathrooms.

Thanks for the advice, and the offers of hospitality, but the whole thing is on hold right now. My cage just informed me that it needs a clutch transplant, and if it doesn't get one, it's going to stop moving. Due to it's advanced age and overall health, I have to decide whether to dump a bunch of money I don't have into it, or finance a replacement. Either way, It doesn't look like I'll be able to afford such a trip this year. More likely I'll settle for a long weekend in the hill country.

I don't know how old your cage is, but get a '66 or older one. Easy and cheap to fix, and actually worth it. Jerry.

Added bonus: If the windshield cracks, I can just rip it out, as long as I keep the wipers working.

If anyone is making their way through Kansas City let me know and we can meet up, we got a motel 6 about a mile from the house... I'd let ya stay, but the wiffey is leary of people she doesnt know staying at the house  .. lol But you can come visit and see the Shadow project... not too far from completion btw, still gotta remove the carbs and clean em out and adj the choke cables.
