I use my bike as a work commuter in the summers, and took it on several weekend trips last year. I have saddlebags, a rear fender luggage rack, and a sissy bar, to which I bungee a Swiss Army backpack from the passenger seat.
For those trips, I put another, smaller backpack on the rack and carried clothing in it. (Maximum load for the rack is 5 lbs.) Even with all that storage, I still had to travel light. You have to get smaller saddlebags for the Rebel than you would put on other bikes. Mine are surprisingly roomy for their size, but still limited in capacity.
Don't settle for one solution: you'll need all that and more!
