Parking Ticket or should I say Tickets
Ok, Hubby and I went downtown for a nice coffee last Sat. Opps forgot to put money in the meter (stupid) both bikes were parked in the same spot. Parking ticket man comes along and give us two tickets. What gives are they alowed to do that, yes I agree we should have gotten a ticket, but one ticket you can't fit two cars in one spot. Needless to say I am not sure weather to pay the second one or fight the second one.

Interesting situation. I can see your point, that only one parking spot was used, and that a cage in the same spot would have gotten only one ticket whether there was one person or six riding in it. I can also see what the person who wrote the ticket was thinking: Both bikes were in violation, and I can't write one ticket for two vehicles if I wanted to. Here in the U.S., I would take it to the court clerk, who has an amazing amount of discretion, explain what happened, and hope that logic would prevail. I have no idea how it is done in Canadia.

Definately intresting! If the meter was paid, then both bikes would have been good to park there.
Maybe you can make a case that you both belong to the same household.
I would try to reason with the authorities...but if Canada is like the states, all they want is your money.
Sorry to hear your outing didn't turn out so well.

Thanks Guba & Fridg lets just say it was a very expensive coffee. And you are right Guba all they just want is your money. I have paid the tickets, but included a note (not that it will do anything) but it sure made me feel better. Anyway life is too short to worry about such trivial things I guess, I am over it now. We will have a stellar weekend here is Burlington (first one this year) so I plan to be on my little Diva for most of it. Have a good weekend.

Well I hope you have good riding this weekend. I know I'll be out on my bike, but I'm not sure where...

Ouch!! I can see where the parking enforcement official is coming from, but still, ouch!! If it makes you feel any better, my brother and sister got two parking tickets at the same time on only one vehicle. They had never parked in the city before and didn't know what to do at a meter, so they just centered the mini-van on one. When it expired, the officer was gracious enough to cite them on both spaces that they occupied.

It's the parking space you pay for so there is no way you should have been nailed for two tickets. I'd fight it but there is the time involved in going to court and that's what they count on, that you won't take the time to challenge the ticket.
I get angry and go to court in cases like this and they usually get thrown out.

That the think oldem, I don't have the time to fight it, so I paid it, but it really is a rip off. I thought the taxes I paid to the city for property, school and whatever else I pay should cover thing like that, but I guess not. Its ok cause I let my dog pee on their nice garden at city hall. Payback is a *****.
