I, too, got a PM from Jerry. After his explanation, it's sad he feels the need to stop posting in the forum but ultimately, it is his choice. His knowledge and insight will be missed and with time, hopefully, he will begin posting again.
As for inappropriate posts....sometimes it's best to type, review, and re-type. The world is a "kinder, gentler place" where political correctness is the norm. Though this is a public forum, it is still run by moderators and administrators who have the responsibility to ensure everyone feels welcome. If someone feels offended, the site mods and admin have the responsibility to address it. As adults, we should all have filters and common sense to know if something is appropriate or could be offensive. As humans with different views and values, we will inevitably offend someone at some point. It is at those times we must work it out as adults. If I'm offended, I should be adult enough to address it with the offender. The offender should be open enough to acknowledge his post may have been construed as offensive. That being said, I have never been offended by any of Jerry's posts. Then again, it takes a great deal to offend me and not everyone is that way.
I know where Jerry can be found should I have a question that cannot be answered here. Many knowledgeable and insightful people here, while they cannot ever replace Jerry, are willing and able to help us newbies (and those with lots of experience). I agree with Jerry when he says this is a great forum. Let's all continue to work together to keep it that way.
And Kudos to the Mods and Admin for keeping a private issue private.
Just my .02 cents.

This is a huge loss to this forum. Damn near every issue I've encountered with my bike has been resolved with advise from JYD.
I hope this blows over because the dogfather is a big reason I use this forum.

Agreed. Jerry's knowledge and insight are a driving force to this forum.HIs posts have never offended me. While his lifestyle and opininions aren't for everybody, at least you know where he stands on any subject. Time heals all, and I hope that in time he will begin to post again.
Be Well , Jerry

JYD. I have never met you, but you have been an asset to this forum! Sure you have your own opinions but that is allowed. We all can't agree on the same things. The one thing that I know is that you will be missed. Please reconsider. Or use another nic! lol. Good luck to you and your future endevours.
Regards,
Canadianwood

I share the sentiments expressed here by previous posters. I'll add that at times JYD said some things that were a good laugh to read, and meant to be. I didn't get a PM from Jerry, but as some have noted, it's his choice. Vaya con Dios.

It's very unfortunate for all concerned. If his claims are to be believed (and I have no reason to think they are not), Jerry has decades of riding experience without a single accident. He was always preaching safety first. That is a good person to have participating in a motorcycle forum.
On the other hand, we all know the "I'm not sticking around where I'm not wanted" type, whose ego is easily bruised. I have been that type before, myself. The many posts in this thread prove that "not wanted" cannot be further from the truth.
If you have strong opinions and express them frequently, someone eventually will take exception. Without knowing the specifics of what happened (and I am not meant to know), I won't take a side, but I do hope I don't ever have to find out which topics are verboten by way of an administrative PM listing the complaints against me.
