Just got out of the hospital...

well i was on my way to work today. and i as pull out into the residential street, i gave it too much gas. which made me do a wide turn and ended up on the wrong lane. next thing I know, a car is driving towards me. i tried to swerve right but it was too late. hit the car going about 20MPH. flew and flipped over the handlebars and landed on my back. fortunately, i was able to get up and go sit on the curb. my parents heard the crash and so did other neighbors so they all came out.
15 minutes later i tried getting up but my left ankle and right thigh/leg were hurting. so my mom drove me to the hospital. got some xrays, nothing broken. just hurts from the impact. and i have a punture on my right thigh. so got some stitches. just got home and i just needed to vent and share my unfortunate experience. thank God I had a full-face helmet. (not that I ever go riding without one) but if i didnt, i honestly think i would have died. i felt my head hit the floor, didnt really hurt though. the bike got the worse end of it. looks like no riding for a long while, if ever...

anyway, like i said, i just needed to vent. guys always wear a helmet (full face if possible) and gear.

Sorry to hear of the accident, been there done that twenty years ago. Lucky me, no car! You should seriously consider a new helmet, they are designed to take only one serious impact. Tony

You are VERY fortunate. I took a turn too wide once that ended me up in a lane with oncoming traffic. It is quite frightening.

Glad you are okay even though you went over the bars.

Thank goodness you are alright!! My brothers always told me that there are two kinds of riders...those who have gone down & those who haven't gone down yet. It is always good to be dressed for the occasion. Even though we have no helmet law here in South Dakota,I always wear a full-face helmet.

Your one smart cookie MOUNTAINWOMAN. I happen to own a '87 450 as well. I used to ride sans helmet when I was young and it was legal in Washington, never again!

Glad you weren't hurt worse. I had a mishap myself about three weeks ago. Amazing how much damage can be done even at 20 MPH. I'll be getting a new helmet, too. How's the bike?
