I'm making sure that my bike is recognized as a Rebel. I'm keeping the tank badges on and any other distinguishing marks that I can just for this very reason.

I would definitely call the rebel 250 "cute."
To me, it looks like a baby Harley.

Don't get me wrong, I love Harleys; especially the Crossbones. And I would take one of them over the Jap 'crotch rockets' anyday. But if those boneheads wanna play the "Mine has more power than yours" game, I don't know of any stock harley that wouldn't get blown off of the road by any crotch rocket with a 750cc or bigger. Come on, every bike has their strengths and weaknesses.

LOTS of people around here ride Harleys, and its great, Love the sound, I take both of my buddies bikes out when I can... a small % of them are pretty rude. I will give em the wave, or the nod and they'll just turn there head back around, or give the little huff, and/or turn their radio up... I get a nice chuckle out of it personally. Cuz I know deep down, my bike is PAID for and Cheaper to maintain.. hehehe.

Most Harley riders are not like that around here. I can park my Vulcan 750 next to a a row of Harleys and not get put down. I've even ridden with the Hells Angels on it (on a paid charity ride) and nothing was said. Many Harley riders have lost their attitude since their Harleys lost their resale value. As a matter of fact, I am currently looking for a pre EFI EVO powered Electra Glide right now. I want it all fixed up and ready to go when the Vulcan wears out (a Vulcan 750 engine is virtually impossible to rebuild, a Harley EVO is a piece of cake) Plus I have always wanted a Harley, and prices of used ones are finally coming down to within my reach. Used Sportsters are dirt cheap, but they are simply too small for me, the Rebel, with extended pegs, actually has more legroom and a more comfortable seat. Jerry.

Just attach a magnet to the bottom of your bike and follow behind the Harley riders. Within a few hundred miles, you'll have a Harley. Why do you think you see them all bringing their Harley's to bike week on a trailer instead of actually riding them?

That may have been true with the shovelhead and back, but the EVO engines are pretty reliable. I don't really care for the Twin Cam, it is more complicated, and IMO, the simpler the better. It is a good solid engine, but I actually want something I can work on without any problems, which excludes all modern designs. The EVO is basically an aluminum version of the shovelhead, but with much better tolerances and build quality. I would not want an EFI version, as I do not like electronics on motor vehicles.
Many people claim that OHV pushrod car engines are outdated and unreliable. Tell that to NASCAR or the NHRA. Theres nothing wrong with the old designs, when they are built right. Jerry.

The most trouble I've had from Harleys is they sometimes won't wave in passing if they're in a group. That's certainly not all the time though, and we were on a Ninja 600.
It was still fun though, going to the Bike Fest in Morgantown last summer and being the one sport bike parked amongst all the Harleys. I'm not a big fan of sport bikes or Harleys, but it was still a nice rebellious experience

Soooo true. considering that Harley had the worst quarter of it financial career. All harley riders will be paying way more for parts and service, I think you will see quite a swing in the sales for every other dealer. Have you seen the new Honda's out for 2010 and you can't beat the prices. I have a Kawi and I have owned a Honda Rebel. I guess you are either a harley person or you are not. and what's with the one hand on the leg thing with the Harley Riders is that the new cool. Too funny to see.

I believe they are trying to massage blood into their leg. All the vibration from the engine makes their legs go numb.
