Size Doesn't Matter
It isn't just our Rebels the Harley Boys make fun of. I was at a benefit poker run yesterday that had about 200 bikers attending. The organizers also had a raffle for a 2007 Honda 1100 Shadow Sabre. I overheard one of the Harley riders say he didn't know what he'd do with the bike except hang it in a tree and let folks hit it with a hammer for $1 a swing. Now there's a revealing statement! He's willing to buy tickets and was one of the first to see if he'd won the bike, but he wanted his buddies to know he was really a Harley rider to the core. They sold almost 1,000 raffle tickets, and I know a lot of them went to Harley riders.
I'll bet if he'd won, the first thing he'd do would be to take it for a spin!
Update
The guy who won the raffle doesn't even have a drivers license. He donated the bike back to the organizers. I'm sure he could have made some significant money if he had sold it. Wow.

Just bought my wife a 2008 Rebel 250. She's 5 ft tall and this is about as big a bike as she can handle. She e had a Harlry 883 Low Sporster and that was too much for her. After she dropped it 4 times, she sold it. Just too heavy for her.
Hope this works out.

I've gotten all the pokes and jabs from the guys where I work since I told them I bought a 250 Rebel. They all ride big Harleys, and there's one who rides a Victory. They all ask, "why didn't you buy a Harley or some other BIG bike?". I always reply with the question, "how much did you pay for your bike?". They never answer. HAHA. I always tell them that my bike does the same thing as the big ones and it cost me under a thousand bucks. They usually shut up after that one.

I wouldn't worry to much about a Hardley. I have been on a lot of cycles. I prefer one I can maneuver, one that is efficient, and easier to work on. I did alot of research before I bought this Rebel. I like it.

All the before mentioned Harley guys where I work have went from making jokes to asking me about the bike all the time. Since they've seen the progress of the bobber job, they're all interested in the bike. They're have even been a couple of them make the comment that they "wouldn't mind having one of those". Ha! Not soo die-hard after all.

Harley riders
Where I work, I have a corkboard beside my tool box. I've caught the "ONLY REAL BIKE" rider over at my box staring at my build pics that I have on my board. He's not as loud now as he used to be. He's afraid, this spring when I park my bike next to his, mine will get more looks.....

Haven't seen any pics of your build, but have been impressed with a lot of the project bikes here. They look sharp and most would be hard to identify as a Rebel.
