First kill
Got my first kill yesterday morning--a bird. I rode right into its landing path. It came in from my left and it was very disconcerting because, for a minute, it looked like it was going to bounce right off my face shield. I saw its little wings flapping crazily and at first I thought it was trying to get out of my way, but it probably was just how a bird normally flaps when it is landing.
What happened next, I can't explain. It ended up hitting me on the right foot peg. I looked in my mirror and saw it rolling down the road. The whole thing happened in less than a second. I'm not sure how that could have been the point of contact when the bird came in from the left and seemed to be right in front of my face. But, anyway, bike and rider are fine.

Unnerving, isn’t it?
Shoot down four more and you'll make "Ace"

But be careful; there's a two a day limit on birds!

I almost nailed a 18 inch lizard bolting across the road. All I could do was slow down and hold on. I tried to alter my course a little but I wasn't going to go down because of some dumb lizard. So I just held on and hoped he continued his trajectory. Luck for him he lived to see another day.

I'm thinking about getting stickers for my helmet to signify the number of kills!

I like that idea! Maybe little bird silouettes.
Something like this?
I guess at 20 confirmed you could wear "The Blue Max"
For the Admiral's ground kill, we'd need something like the bombers used.

First time I took my bike on the road legally, I hit a robin. It was building a nest. At least judging by all the mud that splatted out all over me and the bike.
Second time was only a couple of months later. A sparrow flew out of the ditch and hit my handlebar.
The third victim almost did me in. A deer jumped out from the left side. Even though the deer realized it should go back, it was too late. My front tire ran over his front legs. With me forcing his legs down, he had nothing to do but headbutt me in the thigh. He was a young buck with little 3/4 inch nubs for horns. It was THE worst charlie horse I ever recieved in my life. The impact flung me to the edge of the road, literaly! I kept the bike on the road edge just long enough to slow down to a safer speed before I hit the gravel. Once I hit the gravel I almost lost it but kept the bike up to a stop. Damage...shifter lever bent back, saddle bags sliced from front to back and one latch ripped off and the left side cover was cracked. And then there was the charliehorse!
I haven't done in any more critters since I hung my bells! Which I did after I hit the deer (or he hit me?). I thought about cutting some magnetic sheet into "kill" marking. That way I could remove them when it's wash and wax time.
