Several years ago I threw a cigarette out my window at night on a highway. I looked in my mirror to see the spark-splash, and then I realized that it was a motorcycle behind me, not a pediddle. The butt hit the pavement, not the rider, but he was still very upset. He got up next to me, shook his fist, then raced ahead of me and braked hard until we both slowed to about 20 MPH. Of course he cut back in front of me when I moved left to pass him, so I changed back to the right lane and let him do the "pace car" thing until he got tired of it and accelerated away in a burst of testosterone.

I think about that night when I'm riding, and I wonder when it will happen to me. I suppose I'll deserve it in a karma kind of way, yet I don't think I'll hurtle my bike in front of the inattentive driver.

I had another incident yesterday, I was following a car, and I always leave an escape route about 1 car lenght between me and the car infront of me. This guy thought it would be funny to stop 4 car lenghts from the stop sign and stop and start really quickly. I could see that he was hoping for me to get rattled, so I did not move (Thank goodness there was nothing behind me). boy did he look like an idiot. Having said that 95% of the drivers around me have so far been good. I guess I will just have to get used to a certain amount of people don't like Motorcycles. I was really mad, but how do you know what anyone has in their car - I think it is just best to stay clear if you can. Ok enough of this verbal jibberish. On a happier note I rode over the metal grate bridge twice this weekend, another new experience, not to scary at all.

Good on ya!

They're replacing the only metal grate bridge in my area that I know of because it was shifting on its footings, and we're all a bit jumpy about bridges now in Minneapolis. No grate riding for me then, so I'm a little jealous of you. Hope you had a blast!

caught a bee in my 3/4" right at my ear today... didn't sting, but was definitely ticked off. I couldn't get to the side of the road fast enough. At least it wasn't a smoking bee...

I think today was a 'bad omen' day. Going to a job interview I busted my clutch cable. had to use my needle nose vise grips to clamp the wire to the lever. Made it to the interview with a few minutes to spare. Then the bee, then a rock on the chain. Thought I was never going to get home in one piece. Thank goodness it was a really nice day.

You had needle nosed vice grips on you? That's preparedness! I'm sorry to hear about your run of bad luck, so I'll send you my best wishes for your job hunting:

Good luck!

LOL... used to be a boy scout... No really...

My tool kit has both metric and sae wrenches, small needle nose and standard vise grips, tweezers, 6-1 screwdriver, plug socket, knife, flashlight (LED), electrical tape, wire ties, tire gauge, wire, spark plugs (pre-gapped), fuses, brake/tail bulbs and bubble gum.

All comes from owning an old Harley =)

Good luck!!! If I could get it to you in time, I would mail you some four-leaf clovers. I believe in them whole heartedly. I have knack for finding them.
