CM400 ?'s
Is anyone familiar with this model ? Pluses ? Minuses ?
He's offerring it to me for $600, clean Title, runs.
1980, bone-stock, 5 spd.
He said it smokes a bit & may or may not need rings & the petcock leaks a bit now & then, but other than that, it's fairly sound & he's ridden it recently with no problem.
IF it required rings, either now & later, does the motor have to be pulled from the frame to do this work ? (Still learning about Japanese bikes in general & have heard that some Jap bikes require a motor pull even for top-end work, just not sure if this model is one of those or not) On the plus side, I've already got the Clymer's that includes this one, LMAO!
TIA.......

GJ,
I don't know about that model. But as far as the engine pull, your Clymers should specify if you need to pull it. I wouldn't think you would have to.

I kinda figured you wrote the post before you realized that the Clymers would be the answer. Kinda thinking out loud and not paying attention to the question LOL!! I have done that TOO MANY times!!!

O.K......checked the manual & you're right, Snorey. Looks like a fairly straightforward teardown & rebuild. That in & of itself is encouraging & is a plus towards helping to make the decision to buy or not. Still want to test-ride it & see just how badly it smokes or if it's something that can wait for awhile.
