My battery cover was looking a little jacked. And I don't really dig shiny chrome too much (he says ducking for cover...). So I took some green scotch brite pads and WD-40 I had laying around, and decided to experiment last night. It didn't really take out the sanding marks that the idiot who had it before me put in it, but overall I dig it. Not too sure I'll be able to get those marks out. It's starting to take on a very slight gold tone, which means the plating is starting to show through a little. I was thinking about having something hand-painted on it anyway, so I'll prolly just roll with it.

I like it! At first glance, it has that spun aluminum look to it.......
Have fun experimenting with it........leave as is, slap a sticker/decal on there or hand paint whatever on it. A good craft supply store should carry small bottles of Metal Paint in a variety of colors on the cheap.......
A more tedious option, but one that could be done is to buy some metal stamps & stamp some designs on there.........Engraving/metal etching would be other options.....

Hell if I know. It was there when I got the bike. It prolly got dropped at some point.

Quite some time ago now, I scored some used/spare parts from this cat & one item was a vintage H-D horseshoe oil bag that clearly had 3 substantial bullet dents in it. None actually went thru the heavy gauge metal, but all 3 were pretty deeply indented........considering who I'd bought it from, it wasn't really much of a surprise....hehehe......
