Does anybody else find this to be annoying.
And what to do?

Thanks!

Excuse my ignorance, but just exactly what do you mean by "tag"?

Well! what kind of tag would be vibrating on a motor cycle
besides a licenses tag! Do you have other tags made of metal
that would make noise on your bike!

In my neck of the woods we call it a license plate. And the tag is the thing we put on that says what year the registration expires.

We call 'em either license plates or tags here as well....it's casual......

One thing you could try is cutting some scrap inner tube, cutting holes for the plate mounting bolts, place the rubber mount between plate & bracket & see if that helps.....oh, and Welcome Aboard!

When my plate arrived, I tightened the ever loving daylights out of it, and it did not vibrate (it apparently sits against some rubber fasteners, perhaps yours are missing?).

As a result of the over tightening, the plate developed cracks on both sides of the bolt, and started to vibrate. I solved it with duct tape and a custom plate (new plate).

Perhaps your rubber fasteners are missing or your plate is cracking?

I tried the inner tube idea this morning before work and it worked
perfect. Much better ride. And thanks to everybody's input so helpful!

Thanks,
Ronin

Glad it worked out for ya........Riding hardtailed chops, rubber mounting as many parts as possible is always advisable, so I keep any used tire inner tubes around for just that purpose.

My knowledge of physics is basic, but pretty sure I read somewhere that vibrations work themselves from point of vibration-induction backwards towards the rear of the bike, which would explain the problem with your license plate. I've also had tail-light bulb filaments break due to the same thing.

Thanks, NuBiker. I hadn't seen a bike yet that vibrated so bad the decals were making noise, but hey, mebbe they have rough roads there!

(I'm working thru the Admin board & back to here)........Full-face helmet ? I've been ridin' since '73 & prefer to not wear a helmet at all. Answer your question ?

The "subject" line once a thread has started isn't normally used & understandably overlooked. If one is starting a subject by clicking on "New Topic" in the lower left of the section page, then a "subject heading" is required in the "subject" line to allow the post to be entered.

If it's raining, I still ride with no helmet, others obviously make their own choices on that, depending on state, of course.

Some of us wear a helmet all the time, but then when you are described as "impetuous", that is a good thing!

Again, to each his own.

Thanx for jumping in, John.....you're absolutely right, of course, in that probably most riders DO wear helmets for their own personal safety choices.

(Was culling thru the Admin board & distracted a bit at the time. Thanx again, Brother)

Boy, Gearjammer, I remember the days when it was still legal in Wa. to go helmetless, and they were great days. I can't remember exactly when the helmet law came into effect, but I think it was around 1981-82. It was sure fun heading out across the desert land of eastern Wa. with the ol' helmet strapped on the sissy bar! But, alas, we don't know what's best for us, and thank goodness the state legislature was there to award us this wonderful gift. I do think helmets are a good thing, I just like having the freedom to decide for myself.

"But, alas, we don't know what's best for us, and thank goodness the state legislature was there to award us this wonderful gift."......ROTFLMAO!!!!!!!

Definitely hear that. It's always been a controversial subject with pros & cons on either side of the issue. I won't wear one, but will ride with others who do, that's their choice, no problem here at all.....

Remember hearing someone say (more than once) that "safety can't or shouldn't be legislated as a mandate". Freedom of choice sure makes sense to me.

Do you remember when they were actually considering mandating SEAT BELTS ON MOTORCYCLES ??? Good grief! Now, that was a REAL friggin' brainstorm! The "think tank" must BEEN "tanked", LMAO!
