I have a 2002 Honda Rebel and I' doing alot of mods I have pipes from Jacks Savage the pipes that come on the one side.... if I decided to put straight pipes on it, do I have to rejet the carb.?

If anyone can answer this..thank you and safe riding

For the Classic 250's......'85, '86 & '87, straight pipes can be run without the re-jet. My understanding is that for post-'87 250's, a re-jet is required if you go to straights.

ok well does anyone know, if we went to a small cone air filter AND cut off the baffles on the jacks exuast and put on 2 small turndowns,(leaving it shorty style) what jets would need to be changed, and to what size, also any info on where to get it and how to do it,
right now with jacks pipes we cant go any further without jetting and neither me or my hubby knows the specifics on this,

also what engines from 450-750cc could fit in a rebel frame?

and does anyone know where to get a smaller (higher speed) rear sprocket to bolt onto the rebel,
thanks

Others may or may not disagree, but my thoughts are that the 250 Rebel frame is pretty limited in being able to put a larger mill in there without some strengthening/bracing, quite possibly even some cutting & it might not be the best choice for swapping mills in. The 250 Rebel frame is pretty frail compared to many other stock frames on the market. This doesn't mean it couldn't be done & I'm a strict believer in "where there's a will, there's a way" (usually.....hehehe) but there might be some additional fabbing of motor mounts required as well, along with the above mentioned items.

If anyone has the re-jetting #'s, please offer them for jodilain, O.K. ? I don't know what they'd be off-hand, but usually folks just buy re-jetting kits that may include several different sizes for experimenting with. You may need to bump up both the pilot jet & definitely the main jet. The higher the # on the jet itself, the richer/fatter the jet is. Unless someone has already gone thru this & can offer some ballpark jet #'s, it really becomes a matter of trial 'n error.

You might be able to find both a re-jet kit & the sprocket you're looking for at places like www.bikebandit.com or by ordering directly thru the Honda stealership (which would be my last choice due to often ridiculous pricing, LMAO!)

Why change the rear sprocket the front sprocket is cheaper and the chain lencth is not affected as much. If you go up or down 1 tooth on the front sprocket is about equal to 3 teeth on the rear and you dont have to remove the back tire to change it out either.

The Rebel has a serious clearance issue with the front sprocket. The only two people I know who tried it ended up having to cut away a large chunk of the side cover, and still had chain drag above the gear.

There are no other _larger_ engines that will fit in the frame at all-- I don't mean "bolt" it; there's not room enough to put them there. As J suggested, it's a matter of cutting and re-working the frame. Even then, you'll have to strengthen what of the original frame remains, as it's not strong enough for a huge jump up in weight or torque.

It's kinda tight just getting the 250 in and out of the frame. The frame isnt tall enough I have a 400 sitting in my yard with a rusted frame and during my chop project I thought about trying to fit it but the motor is to tall for a stock frame.
