Just thought I would let everyone know that I have scored a new ride. It's a 1985 Goldwing LTD. It is a local bike that has less than 30,000 miles. Pretty good shape. I have been looking at it and waiting on it for a couple of months (as you know GJ!). I finally got him to sell it to me :) . It is a great score and will allow me to ride while I have my Reb down for custom paint & polishing this winter. The wife is even OK with it....maybe she will start riding with me again!!

I will post pics of it when I get a chance to take some.

CONGRATS, Brother! You've got the patience of a saint, but it's obviously paid off

This is totally cool! Plus you've got the support of your wife, which was there right from the start (good Lady there, Snorey!) And this puts your original plan back on track.........being able to keep ridin' while up-grading the Reb. Excellent all the way around!

Defnitely looking forward to the pics when you get a chance........

Way to go!

Thanks Howard. I will get you an email shortly....I am at work tonight. As soon as I take delivery of it, I will post pics and send them to you. Kinda like a before and after as I plan to do some customizing. It has some stuff on it that I am gonna remove. A little too gawdy for my tastes, but I couldn't turn it down for the price I paid.

I am looking forward to riding it. Gotta do a little maint. to it before it is road worthy. Been sittin' up for a little while and needs brake work. I have always loved the Goldwings and finally got one I could afford!!

Gray beard ? um........well, might not be the oldest (55 soon) or the wisest, but probably the grayest, LMAO!

Let's put it this way, at age 42 the clerks at the store were giving me the senior citizen discount without asking (and I graciously accepted....hehehe) One day, one of the young ladies asked if I qualifited for the discount & I told her "No".......she was a bit embarrassed & apologized. Told her "Hey, no problem. This is a result of all that good livin' ", ROTFLMAO!!!!!!!!!

ROTFLMAO!.......Not sure about badass, but the "geezer" part fits here....hehehe......we used to joke about startin' a club...."Born To BBQ M/C".........

Hey mmwood_1 -- don't feel bad as I am only 41 and been a "greybeard" for several years!! 8)

Gotta good story to go along with that....My mom broke her wrist about 5 years ago. I was there to pick her up and get her med's. It was at the Army Hospital at Fort Gordon. As I was waiting on my number to be called, struck up a conversation with another gentleman. During the conversation, he asked me "are you retired military?" I kinda laughed and explained what I was doing there. So being a greybeard is not that bad....I have also been given the senior discount ( and accepted it graciously). ROTFL!!!

No way, Howard...........you're not over the hill. You're a "seasoned rider" & along with that comes the Respect you're entitled to. You've logged countless miles on 2 wheels & you continue to do so. Not many left that can make that claim...........Your's is a place of Honor! (And I mean that sincerely)

Ride Safe, Ride Long, my Friend.....

Ubetcha, Howard.....

Don't mean to embarrass you & your modesty is commendable, but this is a subject that I feel very strongly about. I'm a "gray", yet a generation behind you. When I see riders of your generation still out there doin' it, it's truly an inspiration for those of us in this chosen Lifestyle.............Keep on keepin' on....it helps the rest of us to Keep the Faith!

I still have many roads I want to ride, i'm looking forward to bike week at Jack's in late Feb. early March and also Jack and others are going to have Rebel meet in Helen Ga. may 5th and 6th.

BTW We have a bunch of Rebel owners within a couple hours ride for this one, it should be a good one. And all bikes are welcome.

Excellent! I remember reading about your road trip into Mexico & the Black Hills recently........You'll probably draw a few from this site for Jack's 2 events
