I was behind a city bus the other day and noticed it's brake light would flash quickly 4 or 5 times before staying lit everytime it braked. It had the same sequence everytime, so I'm guessing it has some kind of modulator attached to the brakes. Anyone seen anything like this for a bike? I searched around and saw the Kriss modulator, but that looks like it only affects the the turn signals, and it makes the bike look like an emergency vehicle of some kind.

Is there something that basically makes it look like you're flashing your brakes, while still allowing you to apply constant pressure to them?

Signal Dynamics makes one called BackOFF

There are a few out there and you can find one that is right for you. Just Google "Brake Light Modulator" and it will bring them up.

Hope this helps!
