Its an awesome bike and gets great gas mileage. I love driving it around town and im not putting as much miles onto my 03 accord. Im going to go on vacation from work in the next couple weeks and I think im going to take it on a trip.

Hi,
Welcome!
I am from Oregon, myself, so I am glad to have someone else from the Pacific Northwest, since there seems to be so few of us here.

If you don't mind saying, what part of Oregon are you from? I live about 40 miles south of Grants pass, Or.

Those dormant rebels just keep surfacing, don't they? (I mean WE!)
Howdy, balisada! I'm in Corvallis. Whereabouts are you hanging out?

I live in Albany, but I work only about 5 - 10 minutes away from work, so commuting on my Rebel is really not all that fun, since it's a couple of short straight stretches, a few lights, a turn or two and Voila! you are at work. So I manage to stretch my commute from work to home to about an hour.
You know, take hwy 34 into Corvallis, then take hwy 20 and take the independence cutoff and take the right turn (I think it's the first right?) and follow the road into North Albany.
Or perhaps turn the other way on 34 and go through Lebanon and then wander on back to Albany though the myriad of farming roads that exist.
I have yet to go down Hwy 99 (is that what goes to Eugene?) and go through Brownsville and take 7 mile lane back to Albany.

I had to laugh! That's pretty funny. Anything to stretch that pre-work ride out just a little bit longer....I suppose you could head up 99w to Monmouth, then over to Independence, then head south on the Independence hiway back over to north Albany. That'd give you at least a 50 mile trip, I think. Oh with the myriad of rural hiways out there, the possibilities are many!
Although I have a corvallis address, I actually live about 7 miles south of Philomath. I have a shop that I rent , which is about 3 1/2 miles from our house, so my work commute is short. But I almost always have a reason to go into town most days. That's 10 miles from home down wide open straightaways. Fun!
I also have a friend who just got a brand new HD, but she hasn't even got her bike endorsement yet. So she needs someone to ride along with her til then. So we've been going on rides together lately, which is something I haven't really done. I'm usually just riding to get somewhere.
So on your rides through the countryside, do you get stung much? I keep getting hit on my neck by flying stingers of one sort or another, and as they hit me for a split second, they sting my neck! I'm tempted to wear a scarf! Actually, it's been motivating me to get moving on reconditioning my windshield so I can re-mount it on my bike. Crazy, though.

You got to love these farming roads, because there are so many of them, and lots of ways to get somewhere!
I hadn't thought of hwy 99 to Monmouth and independence and then back through to Albany. I have taken it a few times in my pickup but not by bike. That would make for an interesting ride on the way home. I will have to give it a try.
I don't have trouble getting stung, but it might be that I haven't gotten stung yet. I wear a full face helmet and mesh jacket. I do get hit with something on my legs, but it's just an annoyance. Sometimes I do wear a scarf under the jacket. It keeps my neck warm.
