View Full Version : Making the beast quiet

Here's the situation. My 2002 Rebel has had the back of the mufflers cut off and everything taken out of the inside. They are loud but not objectionable to some. Without getting into the discussion of loud pipes or a loud horn I need some suggestions. Is there any way I can quiet it somewhat. Anything would be better than the noise at highway speeds. Maybe an add on muffler tip with slight muffling resulting. I have built a higher flow air cleaner than the stock one and I need to confront the muffler issue so I can deal with the lean/rich issue of the carb. The main reason I am trying to handle this cheaply is I don't want to spend the money for new mufflers.

these baffles are made for harley exhaust systems but maybe they could fit the rebel? They can be fited in pipes with 1-1/2" and and 2" outside diameter. And they'r inexpensive. I dont think they'l effect exhaustflow and threfore they will probably just slightly or not rich'n your fuel mixture at all. (I think :? )

Are,

Thanks for the heads up on the Harley baffles. I think I may try the 12" ones.
