I'm gonna move and replace the ignition on my bobber, so it'll use a different key to start 'er up. Does anyone know where I can get a simple screw-on or keyless pop-on cap to replace the original? Then I won't have to worry about carrying multiple keys, and I could sell all the keyed parts on the bike.

None that I'm aware of, but you might try taking the Rebel gas cap to an automotive store & see if there's any possible way they could match it for a vented, screw-on type (chances might be slim at best, but ya never know & if you find one, please share that info with us, O.K. ? )
I know that there's still screw-on gas caps made for certain Fords that'll fit on the old Harley gas tanks.

hi how you doin ?
even if you find a non-key gascap... would you feel secure in using it ?

yeah, I don't really understand the paranoia. I've never had a truck with a locking gascap on any of my vehicles and it's never been a problem.
I actually got to thinking about it the other day, and I don't think a screw-on cap would work. There aren't any threads on the tank, just a lip for the keyed cap to "snap" onto. Oh well.

He lives (if you can call that living) in New York City  where anything can happen if you turn your back. I don't blame him for being paranoid, I would be also if I HAD to live there.
BTW A little north of the city (Hudson Valley) is some of the most beautiful country in the USA, I would move there.

Many older bikes have 2 slots for a twist-type cap (not threaded, either), but the Rebel gas cap has an expanded friction fit after snapping it closed, right ?

right, gear -- plus it has a venting function involved there.
i tried to find an alternate in auto parts shops when i had my venting issue a couple of years ago. my recommendation is a stock replacement (the extra key is really a small issue) from the dealer and negotiate a 10 percent discount because it is a big ticket item.
worked for me.

Thanx, Jeff........As you just pointed out, HotShott could still install an aftermarket ignition switch, keep one original key for the stock gas cap, make a key copy & still sell the stock ignition switch.
HotShott, I always carry a spare key while riding, so adding another to the key ring wouldn't be all that bad. You'd get to do your mod & make a little ca$h selling the stock ignition switch just the same
