Need gas tank - 1986 Rebel 450

Hi. I am a newby to the site, and am looking for a replacement gas tank for my 1986 450. Does anyone have one or leads on the best place to locate one?

Also, can anyone tell me if a tank from a 250 will fit the 450...at least if it is a close year?

I won't be picky on color because it will likely have to be repainted anyway.

I don't think you will be able to find a good tank. Your best bet is to take your tank to a local indy shop and have it relined/repaired. A 250 tank will not fit a 450.

eBay "might" be a possible, but good 450 tanks are getting rarer than hen's teeth.

Thanks for the info. I may have the tank relined, as it sounds like a tough chore to find a replacement.

Ubetcha...........there's always an outside chance that a good one will show, but those chances get less as time goes on. Finite # of 450's, 2 run production, odds aren't in our favor.

There's a couple afermarket gas tanks for the 250's, which is cool for the 250 owners. If an aftermarket company offerred replacements for the 450, I believe they'd sell fairly well.
