Hi everyone!

My name is Kathyren and I am from Waynesboro, Georgia. And I am 43 years old. I guess I am going through a mid life crisis (LOL)
I just got this bike. I am so excited... Although I haven't been able to ride it yet. I haven't driven one in years so, This is going to be just like starting over. This bike has been sitting up in a bedroom of a house for a few years, so it needs some cleaning and adjusting....

Any new rider suggestions or tips?

Thanks!
Kat

Taking the Motorcycle Safety Foundation basic riders course was the best thing I did. That and LOTS of parking lot practice time!!

The carb and fuel tank are the first worries. Do you know if the tank was drained, fuel "stabilized" for storage (a standard winterizing thing), engine run until out of gas (empty carb)?

It will probably need a carb dissasembly and cleaning and a filter added between the fuel petcock and the carburator. Add the filter no matter what and then you can try fresh gas, but "a few years" scares me if there was fuel in the bike.

Welcome Kat!!

jsonder hit the nail on the head....mostly have to make sure the tank and carbs are clean. The tank is a bugger, but with some determination and patience, it can be done. Feel free to ask any question....we are here to help!!

P.S.
I live in South Augusta so we are practically neighbors!!

Welcome, Kat!

WaitsburgRose, John & Snorey got ya covered........

Shouldn't take much to get that Reb running again. Along with what they've already mentioned, it wouldn't hurt to change the oil, lube the chain, see if the battery will still hold a charge or simply replace it with a new one.

What year is it ? You might also eyeball the tires to check for dry rot, control switches may or may not need a cleaning to remove dust, tho' having been stored inside is a DEFINITE plus!
