View Full Version : Rode to work down by the river this morning!

My normal commute involves 4 different interstates so I opted for the backroads all the way this morning.

It was AWESOME! Crossed the Ohio River using the 2nd street bridge and headed down River Road (gives you a beautiful view of the Ohio River all the way). The weather was great and thanks to my new mesh jacket and liner I didn't mind the breeze coming off the river at all.

Had to stop once and change glasses when the sun came fully out. What a beautiful sunrise!

Perfect! This is why I wanted to ride! 40 miles of great riding made me almost happy I had to work today.

Yes! Sounds like an EXCELLENT way to start the day. And after the daily work grind, you have the added benefit of being able to unwind on the ride home. Way to go.....

Hey! That's my stomping grounds!!! :D I don't cross the bridges to work, but sounds like we're practically neighbors!

Hi Tom,

Southern Indiana! Yep sounds like we are neighbors. Floyds Knobs to be exact. Where are you?

Hi Howard!

If you were there in the evening - so was I. Huber's is my nightly round trip ride.

Yes there are! Lots of curves and hills and little traffic on the back roads. It's a great place to learn to ride.

New Washington over in Clark County. Just did a Poker Run in May that ended up over at Huber's Restaurant.

We should meet up sometime, that is, if you'll ride with a non-Rebel owner!

Good for you on riding to work!! That's my goal but I'm not ready yet. I need a lot more practice and if it ever stops raining here, I will be on that bike!

Thanks Wanda - it was really neat!

Tom - I ride with a Harley already so I guess I can ride with another non-Rebel rider! Shame you all don't have a Rebel to ride. :P

I'll send you a PM.

Howdy y'all,
Well, riding in the country and taking the backroads is what it's all about for me. I live 10 miles from town and to go anywhere, I'm on rural highways with hardly another vehicle for miles. I'm 4 miles from my shop, and unless I have to haul things, I ride my rebel, rain or shine. Same thing for trips into town, or to see my daughter down in Eugene (50 miles).

The one thing I'm puzzling over though, is how to be able to see when it's raining hard. Maybe a suction cup mounted, battery powered wiper for my helmet visor?

I use Plexis plastic polish on my face sheild and it stays mostly clear.

:P I think it's a great place to ride even after you learn, I wish I had such roads in my back yard, I don't think momma would see much of me. :D :D
