View Full Version : Filling In Honda Logos on Engine?

Would bondo or epoxy work to fill in the Honda logos on either sides of the engine? Or would the engine heat cause the bond to not hold?

Bondo wouldn't work. There are high temp epoxies found in most automotive parts stores that would. You would have to clean it very well and scuff sand for it to stick.
Just curious, what's the plan?

thinking about painting the engine flat black to match the rest of the bike. just want to clean it up and get it real bare bones looking, including getting rid of any logos and identifiers on it.

(glad to see I'm not the only person jumping between both forums tonight.)

Sounds cool, is it a bobber?

Yeah, gets a little slow at night. I think I better call it a night, see you later.

Haven't updated it in awhile, been on vacation and slammed at work. Hopefully I'll get some wrench time in on it Thursday night.

JB Weld... I've heard of people plugging holes in engine blocks with the stuff.

checked out the JB Weld site. It says it can withstand a constant temp of 500 degrees. So, anyone know how hot those two covers get while the bike is running?

I don't know the temps at the covers, but have seen old Triumph motors with lots of JB Weld repairs on the heads, which I'd guess would get much hotter than side covers.

Have been wondering about grinding those Honda logos off the covers, but haven't removed one yet to see how thick they actually are. With the mods, a lot of people have asked what kind of bike it is.....even had one guy at a gas station yell over "What the **** IS that" ? LMAO! With no logos to read, they'd really be scratchin' their heads....hehehe.......

found a post on the other rebel site:

guy with a 450 measured the temp at his plugs and it registered at 320 degrees, so the covers would have to be cooler. looks like the JB Weld would work.

Yeah, I actually love the idea of taking this Honda bike and making it look kick a$$. Just seems wrong to have Honda's logo on a bike I'm gonna spend so much time on making my own.

Nothing wrong with that. Read about the new Nortons a few years back & they came with stickers that said "Built in England, Rebuilt In The USA".

Met a retired guy who had a huge Japanese cruiser & I had to ask him what it was. Turned out to be a Honda (can't remember which model) & he flat out told me that he'd removed all the logos on purpose. It wasn't chopped or heavily modified, just a real clean looking cruiser with no identifying brand name......
