Just got my 06 black rebel in last weekend and put my first 150 miles on it. Filled up a whoping 2 gallons and on my way again. I bought it as a commuter to save some $$ from my Titan which gets 13 mpg. Pretty big difference jumping to 75 mpg. Question: what level of gas do you guys use? The manual said anything above 85 is fine. I just wanted to know if you noticed a diff. putting 91/92 in. Thanks and wow is this a great bike!

Welcome, gixxer06g........
Congrats on the new Reb!
I'm sure what the manual says is just fine & I know at least one local who runs the cheapest gas he can find. Personally, I always opt for the highest octane rating at the pump, regardless of what bike I'm riding. It's pretty much your call
I think on an bike of its size the rebel will preform pretty much the same on either grade of gas. My wife always ran the high stuff, but only because someone told her it would run like crap if she didnt. And you know how the wife can be, will take anyones word over ours

My 01 Rebel will run on the cheapest gas in regular grade. No spark knock, cranks and idles great. Now, my Sportster, that's another story.......

Can you use a regular motor oil for these engines. I had a sport bike and they recommended using the honda h4 motorcycle oil and not a regular car engine oil. What does everyone use for their reb?

You'll get a variety of answers when it comes to oil, but I used regular 10W40 (non synth) in the 250 Reb & am using it in the 450 Reb.
The thing you have to watch for when choosing an oil is that it has no friction reducing additives. You share the engine oil with the clutch and those friction reducers are bad news for the clutch.

Check pg 75 - 76 of your owner's manual. API-SG or higher except those labeled as energy conserving on the circular api label.
