I have just bought a used 2005 honda rebel...it has 585 miles on it. i love it and i am just learning how to ride a motorcycle.... i am having some trouble maintaining a steady throttle speed. can anyone tell me how to adjust the throttle free play. it seems to be a little loose and every little twitch causes the motor to increase or decrease a little...i can't seem to hold a steady throttle position. thanks......herbie
There are two adjustment nuts where the cables leave the throttle. These are for minor adjustments.
The are two more adjustment nuts where the throttle cables connect to the carb. These are for major adjustments.
Get a Clymer's manual. It will answer many of these questions.
You can adjust in two places
1) at the throttler itself, by adjusting the nut A and nut B

2) at the throttle body on the carb, also by adjusting nut A and nut B

Be careful not to over adjust or you will get engine reving from the to tight adjustment and of course poor response from to loose.

Hey guys, thanks for the info....i tried both tips and found that the adjustments at the carb worked best... I will soon buy a clymers manual.......as far as the twichieness of the throttle, i am sure that you are right...i just need to learn to ride more smoothly.....as soon as i get more miles under my butt i'm sure that too will smooth out...thanks again...
