Hello all, just signed up today and wanted to say "hey" to everybody. I hope you don't mind a non-Rebel owner here, but I have always liked the Rebel but it just doesn't fit my frame. :D

I'm glad to see there is another resource available though. Had my fill of a certain individual "over there" and after he and I got into it briefly I told them to just unsubscribe me that I don't belong to forums with that kind of attitude and I don't intend to start now!

I guess I'm of the mindset that it doesn't matter what you ride, it's that you ride. I believe ideas and help can be had from all forums, even ones that may not pertain to the particular bike you ride.

Bottom line, I love motorcycles, and I love to talk about them with others of like minds. Good luck here, and I hope it will really take off and grow for you!

Welcome "toneman"....

Excellent post & I agree with you about all of what you've said. My passion, obsession, is motorcycles.....live, breathe, rap, think, eat, drink & sleep about 'em.....makes the OL crazy! LOL!

And you're not alone in the disappoint you commented on. Not by a long shot.

Thanks for the welcome, Gearjammer! And I make everybody this promise... since I don't own a Rebel, I'll stay out of the Rebel specific threads. Don't want to pretend I know something about them if I don't. My participation will be more of the general nature on motorcycles.

I want to respect those who do own this bike and not butt in if I don't have anything of value to contribute! :)

toneman:

Don't promise so much. Often, there will be some non-model or non-marque questions where experience on other bikes is relevent. The Rebel is a little quirky (no oil filter so changes are frequent, etc.), but an awful lot of common sense and experience transfers in nicely.

Excellent point, jsonder! There's plenty of basic commonalities depending on vintage of motorcycle, makes, etc.

I much prefer to wrench on bikes & try to avoid wrenching on cages if at all possible, LOL!

Like you, toneman, I prefer to not "guess" & would rather let someone else field the question rather than have me add to the confusion :? .....but, by all means, please jump in with your input whenever you choose.

Sounds fair enough!

Here's my ride... a 2002 Suzuki Savage. I spent part of yesterday at the local Honda dealer eyeballing a new Honda Aero 750. Don't know if I'll make the plunge or not, but it sure is fun looking!!! :D

Welcome aboard, feel free to take part in any post/topic on the board, I promis you will not be stomped by any member here for your roll in the site, rather welcome by most for offering your input. Nice savage, That is what we almost bought before the rebel, but the day before we were to go look at it, it got sold. Oh well when it comes to bullet proof small bikes, you can loose with any of them really, rebal, savage, or virago.
