Howdy! Another old dude here. Started riding in 1960, biggest bike was only a 325 cc (Honda claimed it was a CB350), with a fair amount of the time on trail/dirt bikes.

Currently repairing/abusing a 2001 Rebel. Tried to take it on a little 4WD route and now have a very fragile rear shock. New pair ordered and replacement will occur asap.

I've heard those old CB350's were capable of 100 mph plus.

Congrats on your acquisition of the Rebel. I can see where the little off-road adventure might have been a bit much for the Rebel's design, but other than that, it's one fine bike.
