Some of you knew privately that I'd been trying to acquire a chopped Trumpet that I'd recently found.
The deal went down today without a hitch & it was a totally POSITIVE experience! I remember the seller, who I'd met some years ago & he was still ridin' Old School Triumph choppers before choppers became popular again. He remembered me as well. Good kharma, good Spiritual energy in this chop. The cat is a well-known Old School chopper builder in this area & probably known in a few other states as well.
The chop runs a bit rough, needs some attention, but NO complaints here! It's all part of the Journey.
Want to offer a sincere thanx for the support & encouragement of cTc, Uneasy Rider, Snorey & Chopper Rick!!! You guys are "Aces" in my book!
Will get some photos in the near future & post 'em. Promise!
Ride Safe.........
Glad to know it went down in your favor. Cant wait to see the pics. Now the only problem you face is which bike to ride today

Thanx guys....
It's not an OCC type of chop, it's Old School homebuilt, rough around the edges but dang sure got ridden until recent times. Just needs some TLC to bring back up to snuff.
Will have the OL take some pics this coming week on the digicam.
8" over stock springer w/spool wheel, pull-back T-bars, Sporty tank, solo bucket seat, cat's tail light tucked under a Harley soft-tail type rear fender (looks familiar, LOL!), short drag pipes, frame has been raked & stretched, chop is 8 feet long.
$1000 for a running Triumph, chopped & Titled, it's hard to go wrong there  (Early start here......L8R on....)

Thanx, Brother! Y'all had more faith in the deal than I did, LMAO! But, man, it worked out just fine
If the OL doesn't get the pics done, I'll take 'em on a freakin' Polaroid & mail to someone who can up-load 'em! LMAO! (She'll probably do it tho' )
The key had broken off in the ignition switch at some point, so for the time being, my "key" is the point of a folding blade......hehehe....

I like it....Great Score!!!
(Ahhhhh....the mod ideas are flowing ROTFLMAO!!!)
not much work needed there
the reason I bought the xs 650 is that the engine sits and looks like a triumph, but triumph usually bring a much heavier price, unless you get lucky
Looks good, I like it

Thanx, Brothers! As mentioned, she's a bit rough around the edges, but have been dialing in a few items & bringing her closer to better, LOL!
Above the battery, you'll see the push-button latch for a door to the homemade toolbox. Above the tool compartment on the inside, is the key switch & rectifier, wires being hidden as well as protected. On the left side, there's a toggle switch for the lights. Gotta love these old chops & the personalizations added by the previous owners. Always an adventure..........

Ain't nothing wrong with rough around the edges, that's a fine looking ride. Nice score.

Thanx, Shack...
I didn't even try to bargain with him @$1000. Rode it a couple times & the top-end seems fine. The bottom-end is questionable & I don't dare ride it again until I find out what's going on there. If I have to swap out bottom-ends, the bike will get a more thorough going thru with some cosmetic changes as well, but hoping that I can get her running well with the original mill in place & then just up-grade more leisurely. The next couple wrenching sessions will be the deciding factor....*fingers crossed*
I didn't even try to bargain with him @$1000.
Damn, that's a good deal. That bike probably would have got almost twice that here in the UK.
Nice looking machine as well 8)
Keep us informed with pics as you do the bits and bobs on it.

Thanx, Sox......It wasn't even for sale until I saw it & inquired. He said "Yeah, I'll sell it for a $1000". Tried not to do cartwheels in front of him, LMAO!
Going to be pulling the clutch & gearbox to see if this bottom-end stays or gets swapped out. As just about everyone knows, I'm not the best at getting around to doing pics......hehehe.....but once she's sorted out mechanically, cosmetics finished, will post some "after" pics.
Hey GearJammer,
If you need any help or advice (or even parts) on the Trumpet, I'd suggest joining www.chopperbuilder.co.uk. I've been a member on there for awhile now. Post the pics up there of your machine...they'd love it!
Great bunch of guys and always up for giving help and advice to peeps.... 8). A lot like the Rebel forums! :D

Thanx very much for the info, Sox.....
I have to admit, my computer time has been cut back considerably compared to years past. Got tired of spending too much time online & not enough time in the saddle or the shop, LOL! I'm sure they're an excellent crew, it's just that I can't spread myself too thin computer-wise again.
If you can get the pics over there, you're certainly welcome to do so.
We've been fortunate in being able to manage most of the Brit stuff here locally, between the local Brit network, TONS of available parts sources & just plain gettin' greasy turning wrenches! LMAO!
Fired her up today to warm up the fluids & then drained the gearbox, motor oil & sump plug. Didn't look too bad, so will keep moving forward unless I hit a snag (worst case scenario being having to drop in another bottom-end which I have here if need be).
Thought I was only catching 3 or the 4 gears, but after checking it out more closely, all 4 are there & appear to be indexed properly, it's just shifting a bit funky, so will be removing the outer gearbox cover to check out the gearchange quadrant return springs, plungers, plunger springers & guide plate. If I can get this puppy to shift properly (smoothly), it's onto cleaning the clutch plates & that might put her REAL close to rockin' 'n rollin' again.
