View Full Version : Dirty Fuel In General ?

The Rebel seems fine after adjusting the throttle stopper screw, but I can get sediment when draining the float bowls at any given time. Still going to install an inline fuel filter once I get some new fuel line (tried 2 different auto parts stores yesterday, but they don't stock the clear fuel line, have to hit a bike shop). While riding, I'll get an occasional "stumble" which I now assume is particles of sediment running thru the carbs.

The Triumph was giving me fits on cold starts during the winter months, tho' once started, she ran fine in the mid to upper ranges, so I've got to pull the carb & check the pilot circuit for possible clogging. Have seen other Internet boards dealing with a lot of issues related to pilot circuits getting clogged up recently.

Yesterday, the OL took one of her vehicles into the shop for servicing due to the engine light coming on. The shop owner told her that one of her injectors was clogged & that's he's been seeing a rash of carb/injector problems related to dirty gas.

It's always wise to run an inlne fuel filter to catch as much sediment as possible before it gets into the carb, but was wondering if any other parts of the country are experiencing this "contaminated fuel" problem ?
