Saw this 1995 Kawi Police Bike for sale yesterday. They're asking $1600, but will take $800. Running, needs a tune-up, clutch cable, has one minor exhaust leak.

I'm not really interested in scoring it, but am interested in the specs on these police models. Checked out www.bikez.com & eBay & noticed that the hp rating for a 1979 KZ1000 sold to the public is 86 hp!!!! Noticed on eBay that these Kawi police bikes have high performance engines, their own parts, even their own Clymer's manuals. Other misc. items like 16" wheels front & rear & tires that'll do 50 mph when FLAT!!!!

As mentioned, I doubt that I'll go for it, but if I sold the huge WindJammer fairing & other misc. parts off the bike, the actual price would probably be only a few hundred for a screamin' runner.

Does anyone know the actual hp rating & top speed on the '95 police model ?

Try these guys. http://www.kawasakimotorcycle.org/forum/ The vintage forum would be your best bet I think. They have been a great help with my 79 KZ-650.

Thanx, Dan.....

Was really just curious about the hp & mph specs, that bike has more than likely been sold by now.

I see you also like the Kawi's. Know one guy here locally who's a diehard Kawasaki rider. He was into 'em big time during the '70's & '80's then went without a bike for awhile. He was looking for a project bike to work on & I tried to turn him onto an old CB750 I knew of. At first, he was interested, but then I later received a call from him & he'd scored a project bike.....'79 KZ750, LMAO!
