I've wanted to get into riding for a while now and last month bought a 1986 Honda Rebel 250 in mint condition, only 3500 miles. It runs great and it has already given me much enjoyment, even though I’ve only been out on it a handful of times. I can see why it's a popular choice for beginners. It does instill confidence.
I've been into cycling (man powered) for years and I think my years of experience of cycling crosses over to motorcycling well.

Welcome aboard, "Bikeman1969"!
Excellent score on that '86 250cc Reb! 3500 original miles is barely broke in & in mint condition, so you've got LOTS of pleasant miles to look forward to. As mentioned, low maintainence & a very versatile bike there.
Had an '85 250cc, then couldn't pass up a deal on a 450cc Reb, so had to sell the 250cc due to not having enough space in the stable to keep it. The 250cc was a BLAST tho' & a lot more umphh than I'd originally expected.
Enjoy & Ride Safe!

Thanks for the friendly welcomes. The only thing that I needed to do to the bike was replace the fork seals. One side was leaking a little so I did that myself. When I bought it from the previous owner he threw in the Clymer repair manual. It’s a cheap fix if you’re mechanically inclined, about 10 bucks with shipping from eBay for the seals. I grew up working on my own cars so this was a breeze. I’ll try to post a picture in the gallery area.
the clymer is a good to have item, there are a few incorrect points in it, but for the most part, its a must have.

Sounds good & only having to replace the fork seals on such a primo score is excellent! With the older bikes that I prefer (my "newest" vehicle EVER is this '86 Rebel, LMAO!) so leaking fork seals seem to come with the territory.....hehehe....
Again, it's GREAT to have you here & I'm sure you'll be a valuable resource to the site!
Dive right in & have FUN! :D
