I was over at a bro's house workin on his computer and he has a '94 Sportster 1200. He was showing me some mods that he had done and things he bought for it. I sat on it to see how the seat felt and overall characteristics of the bike. It was nice but to me, my 450 sat better (and lower) and had a better overall look. Sure, it's not a 1200, but asthetics wise, it looks more like a H-D than his did LOL!! I know I'm a bit partial, but I was wondering if anyone else felt the same.

He had drag bars on it also and aftermarket grips. I have always liked the 450 bars as they have the same shape as the old chopper style bars. The grips looked great but were too big for my liking. Overall the bike looked "crowded". Nothing seemed to "flow" when you looked at it. He is proud of it and he well should be as it is his. I am sure he would look at mine the sameway!!

This post is just to see if anyone else seen the same thing and get there opinions.

There's several newer 883's in the local area, one has the 1200 kit. Aesthetically, I'd take an old Sporty over the newer ones. The new ones look too "tidy", somewhat boring & they don't even leak oil anymore...what's up with that ? LMAO!

Comparison-wise ? I'll take the 450 Rebel with the more classic styling. Performance-wise ? These 450's will do anything a stock 883 can. Now, the 1200 kit does bump 'em up a bit, but that only means they'd get the speeding ticket faster than us...hehehe....

Was riding with my bud, he on his 883, me on the Reb & right after we fired up the bikes & were just heading towards the road, this old greybeard came up to me & asked what year the Reb was. Told him it was an '86 & he said, "I figured it was an older bike, it has more class than that new one (nodding to the 883)". My bud was at the curb & didn't even see the conversation happening  . Told the guy I'd done a few mods & opened up the pipes to let her breathe a bit more & he smiled & said "Yeah, it'll easily keep up with 'that' one", LMAO!

(Shame on me for preferring the 450 Rebel & for criticizing the newer 883's a bit, but it's been a long winter! )
