Saw a rebel yesterday that hat the turn signals that doubled as brake lights. I couldnt get up the guy/gal to chew with them about it. And I am not sure if they are a local. As far as I know there are only 4 rebels here locally and I own 2 of them.

If I happen across them again I plan to check out the mod. I liked the looks of it. Sigs had red lenses, and it brings more attention to the brakes.

Sounds pretty cool, cTc...

Probably wouldn't be hard to do, just jump the hot wires from the turn signals to the hot wire on the brake light, right ? Or maybe have to run a splitter to same so's the brake light wouldn't blink on & off with the turn signals activated, LMAO!

I had seen ads (?) for setups that will do that. Had thought about doing mine that way also. Not sure if I will or not.....that's down the road. I do like the extra lights for exposure especially at night. I have seen setups that will run the T/S red but when using them as signals, they are amber. I know they use LED's for that.

GJ is probably right with the electricals. But would have to use the front sigs on the back (3wire) to do it if you are using stock sigs. I would think that the running and brake wires for the brake light would split to the sig and the flasher wire would stay the same on the sig.

Of course you would have to run red covers or clear covers with red bulbs. Running constant amber on the rear is illegal. :(

I could lay out the process using a couple spdt relays, I wouldnt want to jump the wires just because you would have juice on a reverse flow through the sig wire while brakeing.

I think I'll play with the layout a bit and post a how to, should only cost $5 and the time it takes to do it.

My electrical knowledge is basic at best. Just checked out the 250 Wiring Schematic in the FAQ Section.

Seems like the Green/Yellow (hot) wire from the Brake Light Switch could be jumped to the Light Blue & Orange (hot wires) on the 2 rear turn signals. This is just a rough look & there's no doubt more to it as you've mentioned, Snorey.

According to the schematic, the Turn Signal Relay also ties into the Brake Light Switch & then there's the matter of isolating the juice so that activating the turn signals wouldn't make the brake light flash.

(I don't run turn signals, but we could probably figure this out)

Edit: We were posting at the same time, cTc....and you type faster, LOL!

I'll get a nice diagram goin in the near future, I might even add the trick to the wifes bike if it dosent sell before I get time.

Saw that bike again today, couldnt believe someone was riding in this cold messy weather. Still havent caught up with the owner, but seeing it a second time makes me think I'll see it more. Still trying to get around to a diagram of how to make a mod like this work, but I'll take the time soon, and just might go ahead and put it to use on the wifes bike.

Sounds like they may be "local", cTc. You've seen that Rebel twice, third time may be the charm! Eventually, you'll probably be able to rap with them & compare notes on the turn signal/brake light set-up.

And if they're riding in knarly weather, then they're also no doubt pretty dedicated. I always enjoy chatting it up with other bikers who've got the right attitude & connecting on the common ground/interest.

Someone told me last night they think the new rebel in town is from a few miles up the road and is their first bike. I'll be locateing them soon to have a look at it.
