I just registered to this forum. I bought a 2005 Rebel (Orange) and can't wait to get out more. Only have 400 miles on it so far. Winter sucks!
I am having a hard time trying to figure out if it is winter or what, we have had 70 degree weather here the last 3 days, NOT FAIR, I know it is going to get worse before it gets better. But i have seen a ton of bikes lately.

It's been strange up North also. One day we had 50's and the next it was 30, then 50's again. Don't think that will happen again. I suppoae I should be thankful we got what we did.

Hi there,
Im new to motorcycling, been reading up on it, researching, reading Hough's books on how to ride and I'll be taking my MSF course in a few weeks.
As far as the rebel goes, I've been told by many people to buy a rebel- one reason being that its a great 1st bike as well as just a kick butt bike all around.....
Others seem to say that it cant handle freeway driving and it could get blown from side to side when trucks drive by and all...
I live in Fl in a semi- suburban area, but at times theres traffic on main roads and hi speed driving on freeways...I intend to ride more around town on relatively short runs at speeds under 50...
But I want to know how you feel about your rebel and what you use it for...where you ride it. Also, I'm 5'9 and weigh 160lbs.....
Also, I see on the honda site it says $2999, but do they give it cheaper and then add tax and the other costs? How much do you think I can get a 2004 model for from the dealer?
Thanx

Watch out on 2004 models, they have a judder spring issue that causes a lot of clutch slipping.
I have yet to ride a bike that does not sway from side to side when encountering a semi, my 04 wide glide does this and it weighs 600+ ponds.
my wife has ridin the rebel far and wide it is dependable, good on gas, and easy to ride.
If you are looking to purchse a bike, check ebay to see if you can find one locally. I paid $1600.00 for my wifes 2001, did a few mods and I have turned down $2500.00 several times.

If you are buying your first bike, the Rebel is an excellent choice. Light weight and easy to maneuver, with a low seat so you can get your feet firmly on the ground when you are stopped on an incline. More than enough power for the kind of riding you want to do. A used bike is advisable because it is likely that you will drop it at some point. Better to scratch or dent one that you have not paid over $2,500 to buy. The MSF training course is a very smart approach. Good luck and ride safe.
