I need a new petcock for my 450. Seems that it is leaking internally at the lever  . Also GJ if you read this, the "middle" port is leaking fuel out of it. Don't see where a line would go to it. I have installed the only petcock gasket kit they have to no avail. So if anyone has one or can get a hold of one, please let me know.
I also will be scouring eBay for one. I just can't afford the $124+ for a new one right now.

I'll see what I can find, the only 450 item I have right now is a rear fender. But I'll let you know what I come up with.

I get at least 5 emails every week from people wanting to sell me their rebel or rebel parts. So I'll be sure and keep a look out.

Thanks CTC,

She FIRED UP!! She won't idle without at least half-choke--but that is another post!

After taking the petcock apart at least 3 times and rearranging the diaphragms and spring each time, I finally got it to not leak through the "middle" port and it seems to work like it is supposed to work :) . It still leaks through the lever :( but that is ok as it is not a bad leak -- not bad enough that I can't use it for adjusting the carbs. I found a petcock on eBay -- just listed so it has 6 days left -- this guy is parting out an '87 450 so I am watching several things.

I definately need a new screen set for the fuel tank. Tried to reuse mine and ooops  , it was worse than I thought and it broke. So half the screen is in the tank  ! That's ok also as I may have to pull the tank again to adjust the carbs. Just another gremlin making my life difficult!!! The up side is that I am getting DARN GOOD at pulling the tank (3 bolts and 2 hoses) :) .

She fired up ? Far out! Congrats, Snorey!

Sounds like by getting the diaphragm installed correctly, you've gotten the "middle port" to stop leaking, eh ? The leak by the lever may be yet another gasket inside the valve body (behind the lever) The only similar petcocks to this one that I've messed with was on the OL's CL175 & they can be a PITA until you can find the right replacement parts. eBay's a good one to keep an eye on, saw that guy parting out the entire bike, too. If you've got an indie shop in your area, they can sometimes locate individual parts for different petcocks.

On the no idle except at 1/2 choke: Did you remove the pilot screws while disassembling the carbs ? If so, the baseline setting for the pilot screws are....turn in until j-u-s-t seated, then back out 2 1/4 turns for an '86, 2 turns for an '87 (can't remember which year you've got)

Idle speed is adjusted with the throttle adjust screw after that, 1200 rpm idle speed.

(Maybe we should pick this up on the Honda Rebel board ? Quick note here: The OL's youngest daughter is in l-o-v-e & using the computer to chat with her boyfriend thru instant messenger. She's a good kid, but is hogging the computer, LMAO! Not my house, not my computer, not my kid, so my computer time is hit 'n miss right now.....*ugh*, LMAO!)

If I remember correctly, you're doing this carb dial-in without a manual ? Dang, Snorey! You're braver than I am! LOL! But you're getting there!

SNORBABY, A 250 petcock will work on your 450 with no problem, you just have to plug off the vaccum port on the back of the engine.
