Located an old semi-chopped Honda 750/4, not running, sitting since 1989, still has swingarm but a few custom mods, rough shape in general.
My guess is that this bike would require a total teardown & rebuild, but it does have potential. Wondering what the resale potential might be if I scored it & either sold it "as is" or parted it out.
Noticed that fairly clean stock runners of this model are going generally for around $800-$1000. The seller is standing firm on $300 for this rolling basket. Does this sound like something that could turn a profit or is it best left sitting ? Anyone ?
TIA...
Just me speaking,
If I were faced with the possible purchase, I would buy the bike. 750/4 parts are not that hard to find, and I would attemtp to get it "running" and sell it as a runner and make 2 or 3 time the purchase price.
But, there again that is just me, the main thing is be comfortable with your decision, if you think you can make a buck, I'm all for that.

Thanx very much, CTC! That sounds like a do-able & winning proposition. You've got my wheels turnin' now...

I have to agree with CTC...If you can get it running with not much into it then it will be worth it. Parting it out will make you quick $$$$. I have a friend who buys wrecked crotch-rockets off ebay and fixes them up and makes a decent profit.
There have been 4 cases where I have bought rebels for really cheap and spent 2 hours and under $20 in parts and resold them for double what I paid. There is money in it.

Thanx, Snorey & thanx again, CTC...
At this point I might be passing the deal onto someone else that I know. If it turns out that they don't score it, then I'll let the seller know that I'm interested if they're not  (Might also suggest to the seller that he should definitely stand firm on his price of $300, ROTFLMAO!!!)
Have enough projects to keep more than busy, but could easily stash it for a later time.
Thanx again...

Thanx, Chopper Rick...
Without even having to click on the link (but I will later to check out the sweet chops over there  ), I remember that site from years ago. That's the "Gang Of The Four" crew, right ? Probably the most serious-minded 750/4 chopper builders on the Internet.
Remember reading in "The Horse Backstreet Choppers" mag a few years ago that some of the guys from hondachopper.com showed up at the "Smokeout" & made quite an impression! Those 750/4 choppers were a definite chopper standard back in the day & have made an enormous comeback! Always good to see enthusiasm like that return

What you just said in that one sentence pretty much sums it up, Brother!
"Chopperz4Ever" means just that...
