Does anyone have a good way to remove the original fuel tank decals without messing the paint job up? Seen some nice Rebel Flag tank decals and thinking about putting them on.

Just did a quick search on www.google.com & found this:

But please research this carefully as there's also a clear coat that might have to be dealt with. Good luck, Snorey!

Unfortunately Snorebaby if the tank as a clear coat on you'll have to sand the clear coat off which means you will be removing some of the paint. Now, if your tank as no
clear coat on it than you can use a rubber decal disk which in most cases will not wreck the paint. 3M makes these disk which can be found in body shops & auto part stores. You can also try the method from the link that Gearjammer provided to you, but again it will only work if your tank as no clear coat.
Probablt the one thing that stops more people from doing wild paint jobs on their rebels and many otrher bikes. Like the rebel my VLX tank has clear over decals. One day ?? I am going to put a paint job on it. But the time you spen remoeving decals makes it almost not worth it.

Thanks for all the feedback GJ, Chopper Rick & CTC!
I have a buddy who I have talked to about putting a paint job on it but I was trying to save a little money with the vinyl graphics (there I go squeeking again :) ).
The top warning decal is in pretty bad shape and really was wanting to get rid of it to begin with and then worry about the sides later as they are in great shape. But if I have to sand clearcoat, then I will just have my buddy do a custom paint job on it later in the year (probably next winter). The theme idea for the paint is a Rebel Flag/CSA. The Monte Rosa Silver is very close to Confederate Grey. Nothing too gawdy. I have seen some Rebel Flag tanks and that just don't look right. I want to feature the Silver in the tank theme. He had talked about ghosting something into the fenders. So many ideas, so little money :D !!
