O.K....so I've been putting off changing the straight 50W to 20W50 in the chopped Trumpet & in the colder temps, it's like trying to kick thru glue
Wanted to take the chopper out today, so went thru the "100 kick" dance until she fired up. (Gotta change that dang oil, LOL!)
Anyways, while trying to fire up the chop (and with other riders patiently waiting...hehehe) my next door neighbor comes over to chat. His main gig is building primo sandrails & he knows his way around a wrench. He understood about the heavier weight oil slowing the starting process down & he mentioned something that I thought was pretty cool.
He'd had a roto-tiller for yard work that wouldn't start very easily using the pull-rope. So he attached a socket to the crankshaft, then attached the socket to an electric drill & whenever he wanted to start it, he'd use the electric drill as an "electric starter", LMAO! Makes perfect sense & it would definitely spin that crank with some serious rpm's to get the roto-tiller fired up in a heartbeat.
Hmmm....maybe I'll just forget changing the oil & use his method for firing up the chop........nah, that would be too easy on my bad leg for kickstarting, LOL!
